A GIN tasting day in Audlem has helped raise money for a Shropshire Union Canal charity.

The gin tasting event was held at Lyme Wood Grange retirement home in Mckelvey Way and many residents and retirees were able to enjoy a wide array of gin samples, curtesey of the Gin Jam Bar.

Attendees were treated to everything from flavoured gins to the perfect tonic.

The event also saw developers McCarthy and Stone donate £200 to the Overwater Wheely Boat Services, as well as a resident from Lyme Wood Grange agreeing to become a volunteer for the organisation.

Overwater Wheely Boat Services is a non-profit making enterprise run in conjunction with the Wheelyboat Trust to provide boat trips on the Shropshire Union Canal.

Fiona Brooks, divisional sales director at McCarthy and Stone, said: “We are delighted that so many local people were able to join our Lyme Wood Grange Retirement Living development for a fun afternoon of gin tasting.

“The event provided an opportunity for residents to socialise and to expand the already vibrant community at Lyme Wood Grange; while visitors were able to explore the development and find out more about the stunning apartments available.

"It was a great way of involving Audlem residents in just one of the many exciting and interesting activities that take place at Lyme Wood Grange.”
