An OSWESTRY barber shop has thanked her customers as the business celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Razors in Beatrice Street, was opened in 2009 by Leanne Hillidge.

Since then, Leanne has witnessed many changes in the job, and has recruited some help along the way.

Now helped by Lauryn Williams, Heledd Lloyd-Roberts and Michelle King, she is still running the shop for regular customers in the town.

Leanne was keen to give her thanks to the loyal customers who have helped the shop to stay in the town for such a long time.

She said: “I always wanted to own my own barber shop, I always enjoyed cutting shorter hair when I was younger, and I’ve developed from there really.

“To have lasted so long has been made possible by the loyal set of customers we have here, who we really can’t thank enough.

“They’re all great – in this line of work, your customers will become friends quite often.

“You get to know them very well and people will tell you things about their life. You just have really nice conversations every day.

“It’s more than cutting hair, it’s about making people feel comfortable and being someone they can talk to.

“We do cuts for all; men and women and children of any age, so we sometimes get families coming in at the same time.

“At the same time, some people are still unaware we’re here, even after 10 years.”

With the shop offering haircuts to anyone, Leanne said the staff always have to keep up-to-date with the latest trends to satisfy a variety of customers’ needs.

“There has been lots of change over the years, but we’re still going strong here,” she said.

“A lot changes in terms of fashion and the haircuts people want – younger lads come in nowadays and want skin fades and things like that which are a lot more popular now than they were when we opened 10 years ago.

“It’s something which means you have to be able to adapt to change and grow quite regularly, and all the girls here are great at that and know what they’re doing.”

Leanne also thanked her members of staff for the work they do.
