It's 'snow' joke but north Shropshire residents started their weekend in a winter wonderland as around an inch of snow fell on Saturday.

Rain was forecast for the area but instead, has turned to heavy snow across hills and lower levels.

Driving conditions are worsening as the roads are covered in snow, with the A483 in Oswestry reduced to a standstill as drivers negotiate the conditions.

The snow started falling at around 10am and has covered much of the area around Oswestry.

The Met Office is predicting heavy fog from 3pm onward before rain and sleet in the evening.
