The weather defied the forecast to stay dry until the very end of the show and as always, as many Oswestry residents turned out in their droves to enjoy the annual Fireworks Party at Brogyntyn Park on Saturday night.

The rain held off as the mayor, Cllr John Price lit the blue touch-paper to start a magnificent Bonfire and a fantastic fireworks display.

Jonathan Jones, who organises the event on behalf of Borderland Rotary, was delighted with the turn-out.

He said: “I’m always so impressed by the community spirit and I’d like to thank the people of Oswestry for their support. I’d also like to thank the Mayor Councillor John Price for lighting the fire, Borderland Rotary for building the fire and marshalling the event and not forgetting the council for the Fireworks and all their support and help.”

All proceeds from the night will go to local causes and charities, with the club set for a record year
