A POPULAR craft session which first took place in Chirk earlier this year returned for half-term.

The rainbow crafts session held at St Mary’s Church, Chirk, proved to be a popular event again as children came along to make colourful crafts and healthy snacks, as well as taking part in a fun outdoor trail activity.

Event organiser, Sarah Wilkinson, was pleased to see the event so well-received again.

She said: “We did an Easter craft day on Good Friday when we had an Easter Egg trail in the churchyard and crafts in the church hall.

“That was the first time we’d done it, and we were overwhelmed by the amount of people who turned up.

“We lost count of the number of people, but we had more than 80 children, plus families.

“We thought after that, that there is obviously a need for something like this in the community.

“So we decided half-term would be a good time to do it again.

“We thought it would be a nice way to reach out to our community by putting on a similar thing.

“It’s a great way for families to have fun together.

“The aim is to reach out to the community, give the families something to do and to offer something as a church so people know we’re here.”
