BUSINESSES in Ellesmere have made themselves pretty in pink to support a breast cancer charity.

Scotland Street shops took part in Wear it Pink day on Friday – a national fundraising day run by charity Breast Cancer Now to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The charity aims to encourage people to raise money by wearing pink to support life-saving research.

One of the businesses taking part was Pets Pantry, whose owner Rachel Carline-Roberts decided to get other local businesses on board in raising awareness for breast cancer, something that has affected her family.

“My mum survived breast cancer,” said Rachel. “My grandmother had it and I’ve had friends who have had it too. It’s a great cause to raise awareness of.”

Lisa Nuttall from Shampoochies added: “We are glad to play a part in the Wear it Pink campaign, as even a small part can make a difference to breast cancer awareness.”
