Wem's very own Greg Davies will be coming back to his hometown to turn on its Christmas Lights this year.
The comedian and actor, as well as the titular 'Taskmaster' on the Dave TV series, will be on hand to switch the lights on in Wem on Friday, December 6.
He has often spoke of his upbringing in north Shropshire in much of his stand-up, and drew on his experiences of his former life as a teacher in his hit Channel 4 series Man Down.
Greg will be the star attraction at the Victorian-themed festival, but there will be street stalls, craft stalls, festive music, lantern parade, Wem Rotary Santa and Sleigh, Shrewsbury’s Town Crier, Reindeer with sleigh, the Wem Snow Queen, among others.
Organisers of the switch-on have also appealed for more outdoor stallholders, costing £15 a pitch and space for a generator and gazebo (not provided).
