Chirk Cricket Club has moved to thank its sponsors after a successful first season in the Shropshire County Cricket League.

The club made the move from the North Wales League to the Shropshire League before the season and both the first and second XIs had successful seasons.

Chirk firsts narrowly missed out on the Shropshire County Cricket League Division Two title, but gained promotion, while Chirk seconds took second place in the Shropshire County Cricket League Division Eight.

The first team had Nick Flack, Andrew Swarbrick and Gareth Partridge in the Division Two team of the year, while Swarbrick won player of the year.

Chirk seconds’ Ian Skinner, Liam Walker and Connor Bailey made the Division Eight team of the year.

Club chairman Tim Flack said: “We would like to thank our sponsors for supporting us once again this season.

“Your help and support enables the club to thrive and continue to run.

“Thanks goes to Taj Miah of Anisa Indian restaurant and takeaway, Chirk Town Council and Caffi Wylfa.”
