PEOPLE in the area are being given the opportunity to have face-to-face time with other voluntary organisations that operate in Powys.

Builth Wells Community Support is hosting its annual Information Fair where charitable organisations and service providers will have the opportunity to promote their work and voluntary opportunities to the public.

This year it will be held on Friday, October 18, from 11am to 2pm, at Wyeside Arts Centre, in Builth Wells.

Builth Wells Community Support is a charity that offers a range of services to people in the area, including community transport to hospital and other medical appointments, monthly outings for the elderly and disabled, as well as Befriending and Lunch Club.

The Community Information Fair first started in 2012 and has been more successful with each passing year.

More than 120 people attended last year’s event, the highest since it began.

A Builth Wells Community Support spokesperson said: “The event was a good opportunity to promote volunteering in the area.”

The new edition of the Community Support local information directory will also be available at the event.

Organisations who will be attending the event at the Wyeside include: Care and Repair in Powys, Dyfed-Powys Police, Tempo Time Credits, Elan Links: People, Nature & Water, Powys Fostering Service, Powys County Council Recycling Team, Bryngwyn Riding Centre (Riding for the Disabled Association), The Bracken Trust, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue, Powys Samaritans, Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, Dementia Matters Powys, PRIME Cymru, Mid Powys Mind and Connected Generation Project.

Organisations who would like to attend, will need to complete a booking form with Builth Wells Community Support. This can be done at its website www.builthcs.co.uk. Event organisers say spaces are limited so it is advised that booking is done early.

There is no charge for entry and there will be free tea, coffee and homemade cakes.
