THREE casualties were rescued from their vehicles by firefighters in West Felton on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle road traffic collision (RTC) on the A5 near West Felton just before 11pm after reports of persons trapped.

The A5 was blocked off from in between West Felton junction and Queens Head and police and ambulance crews were also in attendance.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said: "SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting that a RTC had taken place in A5 West Felton, Oswestry.

"Four fire appliances were mobilised from Baschurch, Oswestry and Wellington.

"RTC involving two vehicles. Three casualties extricated by fire service personnel using Holmatro cutting equipment."

On Twitter, Oswestry Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "Serious RTC A5 near to West Felton.

"Two vehicles and road closed. Police, fire & ambulance on scene.

"Closed up to four hours. Please avoid."
