A 55-year-old Oswestry man has been cleared of sexually abusing an underage girl 30 years ago.

Graham Trow was found not guilty of an offence of indecent assault, said to have occurred in 1989 in Oswestry.

He had denied a single charge relating to the alleged victim who was a toddler at the time.

Trow was cleared following a brief trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court last week.

The alleged victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had claimed Trow put his hands on her hips and asked to see her underwear.

The court heard the girl told her mother what happened the next day but it was not reported to police at the time.

Stefan Kolodynski, said the complainant went to the police in 2017 after seeing newspaper reports about Trow in relation to other criminal matters.

Trow, of Chaucer Road, Oswestry, is a serving prisoner, having been sentenced to two years last year.

He remains in custody, but is due for release on licence next month.
