A DRESSMAKER who helped Oswestry's town crier become the best dressed in Britain has admitted she was shocked and delighted to find out.
Alex Jamieson, who operates in the town's market hall, joined with Phil Brown and Oswestry mayor, Councillor John price, to celebrate the town crier's recent win in Newton Abbott in Devon.
She admitted that she was surprised to hear of the win, especially as she did not know Phil was competing.
"I'm very proud – it's amazing," she said. "I found out last week when Phil was still in Newton Abbot.
"When you make things, you don't expect to win awards for it. The council asked me to do it when they knew they were getting a town crier back.
"They came to me because I was in the market and, hopefully, they knew I would do a good job. It's nice to see Phil wearing what I made for him."
Cllr Price added the win was a boost for Oswestry.
