A brewery from Oswestry has been included in Shropshire's 2020 Good Beer Guide.

Stonehouse Brewery at Weston, which has opened a bar at its site, is a new feature in the book, along with the newly opened The Vault in Ellesmere.

Also returning after a break are the Royal Hill at Edgerley, and the White Hart in Ellesmere, while the Bailey head and Black Lion, both in Oswestry, are continuing entries.

The new guide was released by the Shrewsbury and West Shropshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) last week.

Norrie Porter, from CAMRA, said: "CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide is the premier pub guide for the UK. Each pub is selected by CAMRA members based on surveys showing that the beer quality in the pub is consistently excellent and the pub is one which they would recommend to other CAMRA members visiting the area.

"Unlike other pub guides, it is not possible to buy a place in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide. Each place must be earned on merit.

"Limits on space in the guide mean that only the very best pubs can be included."

This year’s guide includes 51 Shropshire pubs across all areas of the county, and over 4,500 across the country.

Also listed are details of breweries and notes on beers which have been tested by CAMRA tasting panels.
