AN OSWESTRY-based community space has received a large grant.

Open Space Studios in Oswestry has received over £7,000 to help bring back into use the former Oswestry Library, which has been empty for more than 15 years.

The building will be transformed so that people of all ages can come together to enjoy activities such as yoga and street dance, reducing loneliness and improving mental health.

The grant has been taken from a pool of £200,000 National Lottery funding, specifically for community projects.

The money, raised by players for good causes, is being distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

In total, 25 community projects in Shropshire are receiving a share, ranging from a volunteering programme for young people to a new community space for arts activities
