THE winning scarecrows have been revealed from this year's competition that has taken Flint by storm.

More than 30 entries were put forward for the Off Flint Scarecrow Competition - which has been running for four years – and residents had to be creative to be in with a chance of coming out on top.

Scarecrows on show ranged from well-known TV and film characters, political icons, family recreations and all manner of wacky characters creating a unique and fun trail of scarecrows to spot.

Kirsty Smith, who launched the first competition in 2016, said: “It’s been another great year for the scarecrows. I couldn’t have done it without the help of Alexia Carrington, Danielle Noble and Helen Roberts.

“I am very grateful to the support of all the people of Flint, especially a big thanks to all who have helped organise it with me as without them it would not be possible. Also, my two children Riley and Ava-Gwen who have pestered me to carry it on each year.”

Judges made their decision on September 1 and posted the results on social media for the people of Flint to see.

First prize was awarded to the two M&M characters located in First Avenue. These lucky residents bagged £100.

In a close second place was the Donald Trump figure placed outside Prince of Wales Avenue and the family behind the scarecrow will be rewarded with a whole year’s worth of toilet roll donated by Essity Paper Mill in Oakenholt.

Third prize of a £25 Avon voucher and sweet bouquet was given to the Toy Story 4 trio of Jessie, Woody and Forky located on Cae Hir.

Other scarecrows that won a prize include astronaut Neil Armstrong, Pennywise the Clown and Pearl the Mermaid.
