IT’S the final show of Montgomeryshire’s agricultural show calendar which celebrates and honours local talent.

Llanfair Caereinion and District Show is back at Llysun, near Llanerfyl, and this year there’s plenty to see and do on Saturday, August 31.

A fun-packed schedule promises to be an unforgettable show that includes favourites such as the speed shearing and the donkey derby.

Elwyn Owen, 2019 show president, said: “It’s the last show of the season and it’s a fantastic day out for all the family.

“Come along and support this very special show.”

The day kicks off with the Horse Championships in the Main Ring at 12.30pm followed by the Show’s Supreme Horse Championship. Fun for four-legged friends takes place at the Dog Show at 1pm, then at 1.30pm it’s the judging of the decorated shires and mounted fancy dress carriage driving. Not to be missed are show favourites The Tanat Valley Hunt and daredevil Steve Colley Motorcycle Display. Vintage machinery enthusiasts are in for a treat with a display at 3.30pm. Rounding off a memorable show is the speed shearing in the Bar Area at 5.30pm.

This year, organisers have unveiled their brand new website which features information such as the horse, sheep, cattle, arts and craft, cookery and horticultural sections and much more.

There is a free bus service that leaves Watergate Street car park, calling en-route at Melinyddol, at noon, 1pm and at 2pm. Return services run between 5pm and 8pm.

It’s not too late to become a society member which has a saving of £2 on the gate price. To buy the £7 adult membership or £3 junior membership, phone the Show Secretary on 01938 810 296 or visit the NFU office in Llanfair Caereinion before August 31.
