THE media spotlight was on Caereinion High School this week as Radio Cymru and the BBC visited the school to capture a "summer of success".

The GCSE pupils produced a succession of impressive grades to enable the school to secure increased results across all the performance measures and followed up the excellent A-level results from a week earlier.

"It was timely that we were approached by the BBC to contribute to their coverage of the GCSE results and we were delighted that several of our learners were able to broadcast their achievements to the nation," said headteacher Philip Jones.

"Once again it is testament to the pupils hard work and support from home and school which has enabled them to secure impressive grades," he added.

There was a 100 per cent pass rate in the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification while in the newer performance measures for schools, Caereinion has shown a marked improvement in all areas including the Capped 9, the best nine passes for individual learners, where there was a 32 point increase.

"We are very much about the individual learner at Caereinion and with 85 per cent of the learners securing five Level 2 passes, there will be a huge amount of celebration today. This has truly been a summer of success," added Mr Jones.
