OPERA singers made a sweet return to woodland near Denbigh for an outdoor performance of one of Mozart’s most famous pieces.
The Flat Pack Opera travelled from the Wirral to Dolhyfryd upon one of June’s wettest evenings but showed courage as they sang and danced to The Magic Flute on a muddy slope beside the rushing River Ystrad.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the world-famous 18th century German composer, wrote The Magic Flute in 1791 and it remains one of the greatest operas ever written. It follows a quest to rescue a princess from captivity, and the adventurers are given musical instruments enhanced with magical powers to overcome challenges along the way.
Organiser Virginia Cunningham said: “Their talent and courage were rewarded by the hugely enthusiastic audience.”
The Flat Pack Opera returns again to perform a funny modern adaptation of Cosi fan Tutte in Denbigh on Saturday. August 24.
