The deadline for patients past and present to nominate in the Patient Choice Awards at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospitalis nearing – with just five days to go.

The accolades will be presented at the Oswestry-based hospital’s annual awards ceremony, the Celebration of Achievement Awards, at the Lion Quays Hotel in November.

Previously, patients have been able to nominate individuals for the award – but this year, a new category has been created for teams.

There are 17 categories in total, recognising individuals and teams from all across the specialist orthopaedic hospital, but the individual and team patient choice awards are the only two where the public can have their say.

Mark Brandreth, Chief Executive, believes he has the best staff at RJAH and hopes the public vote recognises this.

“The Patient Choice Awards are chosen by our patients and a highlight of our awards evening," he said.

“We decided this year to also introduce a team category as most of our patients receive care from a wide range of our staff.

“I would ask any patient who has used our services and been grateful for the care they received to consider submitting a nomination – it takes just a few minutes and means the word to our people when they get that recognition.

“So far we’ve received more than 60 fantastic nominations for individuals and teams all across the hospital, but it’s not too late to submit a few more and make the job even tougher for our shortlisting panel."

This year’s Individual Patient Choice Award winner will follow in the footsteps of rehabilitation technician Kate Betts, staff nurse Pip Page-Davies and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Pete Gallacher – all previous winners of the accolade.

Patients have until 5pm on Monday to submit a nomination for the Patient Choice Awards.

Nominations should be emailed to rjah.awards@nhs.net with the subject line Patient Choice Award Individual/Team.

Alternatively, they can be submitted in writing to:

Please make sure to include the name of the individual or team you would like to nominate with job titles and departments for individual nominations.

Also please include the reason why they are being nominated for this award – remember the more detail included the more chance your nomination will stand out during the shortlisting stage.

Up to four individuals and four teams will be selected to go forward as finalists in a public vote, with the eventual winners receiving their awards at the ceremony on Thursday, November 21.
