BANGOR-ON-DEE Races hosted their Family Evening, which was attended by thousands of people.

Last week's event was aimed at giving the whole family the chance to experience horseracing.

Jeannie Chantler, general manager of Bangor-on-Dee Races said: "Almost 3,000 racegoers attended Family Evening at Bangor-on-Dee Races.

"The weather was very kind to us, and the paying crowd was up 18 per cent on the previous year. In addition to free entry for children, the Open Course area of the racecourse hosted lots of fun, free activities for youngsters between races.

"This event is one of two family themed fixtures at Bangor-on-Dee during the year and is an opportunity for families to come racing and take the opportunity to experience the thrill of horseracing, whilst spending the evening with their children.

"With a great six-race card and plenty of runners, the meeting was a roaring success and we were delighted with the outcome."
