AN APPLICATION to replace decrepit farm buildings with new ones at a Powys County Council Farm near Guilsfield has been approved.
The application for Maesgwyn Uchaf near Guilsfield went in front of PCC’s planning committee on Thursday. August 22, as the farm is part of the council’s farming estate.
Planning officer, Tamsin Law, explained that prior notification had been asked to build two general purpose agricultural buildings.
These are to replace the existing ones due to health and safety concerns.
The buildings are falling down and asbestos has been found there.
One barns will measure, 12.1 metres in length and six metres in width, and 5.4 metres in height to the ridge giving a total floor space of 74.2 metres squared.
The second barn will measure 18.2 metres in length, 12.2 metres in width, 5.4 metres in height to the ridge, giving a total floor space of 222.9 metres squared.
Ms law added that the buildings would be built on the western side of the holding.
Ms Law said: “Officers consider that the proposed development constitutes permitted development and therefore full planning permission is not required and neither is prior approval of the details of the scheme.
“The recommendation is therefore one of approval.”
Cllr Hywel Lewis (Independent – Llangunllo) said: “I can get my head around permitted development and why it has to come here?
“However I move the recommendation.”
The application was passed unanimously.
