BETTWS Lifehouse, Independent Special School, in Bettws Cedewain, is celebrating another successful year.

With an overall qualification pass rate of 97.8 per cent pupils have achieved a variety of qualifications from Entry Level to GCSE.

Their 100 per cent GCSE pass rate boasts 91 per cent at A* - C and 100 per cent passes in BTEC’s and vocational qualifications. Overall the top grades of A*, grade 9 and Distinction*, equate to 59 per cent.

Nici Jones, assistant headteacher, qualifications and Exams, is delighted for everyone involved, stating the pupils have proved they are ‘reaching for the stars’.

Kay Jones, managing director, said that ‘year on year' she is overwhelmed by the achievements of the young people and how they prove the staff are right to believe in the ethos of the Lifehouse.

"There are some outstanding results this year in a wide range of subjects. I also need to say a massive thank you to the staff."

Notable achievements are: Ondine Rousell, staying into the Sixth Form to study A-levels, who achieved seven A*s, a grade 9 and a Distinction*, Ethan Goddard-Cockaday whose combination of GCSEs and vocational qualifications included a Distinction * in music and Grade 8 Rock School electric guitar.

Ethan has been accepted into the specialist Hereford College of Arts to study music.

Izzy Dawe also achieved a combination of subjects including a Merit Grade in BTEC equine studies.
