EXCELLENT GCSE results have been achieved once again by pupils at St Brigid's School, in Denbigh.

The high achievers at the school this year include Sian Casilao, who achieved 10A*s, 2As and a distinction in additional maths.

Also in celebratory mood was Gio Alazo, who claimed 8A*s, 4As and a distinction in additional maths, while Daniel North secured 6A*s, 5As and a B.

Chair of the governing body Tony Hannigan said: "Every pupil achieved the Level 1 threshold once again and all of the performance indicators have improved from last year, in particular we have seen an increase at the higher grades with 25 per cent of pupils attaining at least five A* and A grades.

"We are very proud of our pupils and congratulate them at this exciting time."

St Brigid's School headteacher Rona Jones said: "Last year was a turbulent time for our pupils, where instability created by changing grade boundaries impacted significantly on their life chances.

"This was a situation we passionately challenged as it was inappropriate and unfair for the children in our schools.

"As headteachers in Denbighshire we will continue to robustly analyse the performance of our pupils and rigorously challenge any unjust changes made that may affect their futures."
