A CHARITY golf event which was organised for the 22nd year running this year has now raised almost £30,000 since its first event.
The annual battle between Chirk-based factories Mondelez and Kronospan is organised in aid of Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham.
Known as the Maz Evans Memorial Trophy, named after a former employee at both companies, two teams face each other throughout the course of a one-day event and scores are added up to determine which team wins.
This year the event, held at Oswestry Golf Club, raised a total of £1,608, and it was Kronospan who took the honours with a convincing 9-3 victory.
Victory for Kronospan means the score for the entire series stands at Mondelez 11-9 Kronospan, with two matches drawn.
Organisers Ian Evans and Graham Wynn said: “We would like to send special thanks to Mondelez, Kronospan, their Union Members, Terry’s Auto, Chirk Service Station, Oakledge doors, Fabwell UK, Protech, Westminister engineering, Derek Lloyd and his family, Oswestry Golf Club and all those who donated prizes and bought raffle tickets to make this another successful day and raise a total of £1,608.00 for the hospice.
“We will look to do battle again in 2020.”
