A YOUNG girl from Oswestry has decided to take matters into her own hands by encouraging dog walkers to pick up after their dogs.

Lily-Ella Jennings, was fed up of being forced to walk around the mess that was left along the railway footpath and wanted to do something to help.

Samantha Davies, Lily-Ella's mum, said her daughter decided to make 'poo bag' dispensers out of recyled squash bottles, to be placed along the path that she frequently walks along with her family.

"She wanted to find a way to help the problem as she was fed up of having to dodge the dog mess that was left by others," Samantha said.

"We use the path regularly and with having a little brother, it was becoming difficult with the pushchair and when he wanted to walk.

"She used her own money to buy the bags and cable ties used to tie the bottles to the posts and I was keeping the squash bottles that we buy.

"Hopefully people will now pick up after their dogs."

The passionate youngster made sure to hand-write notes on the bottles which read: "Did you forget your bag? Please take one of these and clean up after your pets.

"Anytime you are passing put in a spare for others that may forget to.

"Always clean up after your pets and please dispose of these bags responsibly and together we can keep our town and shoes clean."
