Please listen to our call to fix lethal crossroads

ENOUGH is enough – the time has come that we can no longer leave drivers unprotected using Llynclys crossroads. After two children were airlifted to Alder Hey last Wednesday, and five adults whipped to Shrewsbury A&E, the time has come for action.

Yet another two-vehicle crash needed four ambulances and an air ambulance.

Reflections started calling for traffic lights at this accident blackspot nearly a year ago – and this summer Pant villagers joined in with a petition that rocketed to 1,000 signatures in days.

The exceedingly busy A483 leads to long waits, where drivers ‘take a chance’, while those waiting have to close their eyes at incredible near misses.

If any influencer is listening, it either needs a temporary solution NOW or the promise of a Pant by-pass brought forward!

Come and take a look!

AN Oswestry MD so loves his new custom-built headquarters in Oswestry, he’s asking you all along to peep inside.

AICO has been making a great name for itself in producing quality smoke and CO2 alarms in Oswestry. Now the new glass fronted HQ being built in Maesbury Road, alongside the A483, is holding an open day for everyone!

Its planned for Saturday, October 19 when MD Neil Hooper - who calls it AICO’s ‘Centre of Excellence’ - will show off its slap up-to-date training, meeting and demonstration facilities.

Generously AICO is offering these facilities, free of charge, for local businesses and the general public.

A thrilling match to see

TEENAGE female bowler Ky’eisha Tuffnell, from girl-friendly Wellington cricket club, starred at a memorable Sunday-last match that the Advertizer pictured at Oswestry Cricket Club last Wednesday.

She was bowling against Oswestry third X1 player Luke Jones, who gave her a run for her money with energetic sixes and fours that thrilled spectators. How wonderful to welcome female players...and what a terrific way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Action must be taken

HOW grossly unfair that learner drivers are being penalised just for living in Oswestry – having to wait up to 12 weeks to take their tests.

Members of the newly formed Oswestry & District Driving Instructors’ Association say the town has the longest waiting list in Shropshire.

Chairman Gareth Jones claims towns such as Wrexham and Whitchurch see waiting times halved, as Oswestry suffers for no longer being a full-time test centre.

Fancy buying a pub?!

MAESBURY’S historic canalside Navigation Inn is on the market at £360,000 for its 100-capacity bar and restaurant and living space above. And what a plum investment it could prove.

It sits beside the Montgomery Canal that stretches further towards Llanymynech by the year - plus there’s a smart new turning facility at Crickheath Wharf that in a year or two will attract many more hungry visitors.
