A SCHOOLGIRL has organised a village fete to raise funds towards a pushchair for her autistic brother.

Nine year-old Flinn Rogers, who attends Ysgol Cedewain in Newtown is is non verbal and severely autistic.

In September Flinn will go into a different class which will allow teachers to take Flinn outside of the school to visit shops and take part in other activities to help in his development.

For this to happen Flinn will require a new specialist pushchair.

His father, Simon Rogers said: "Nia, our 11 year old daughter came up with the idea of trying to raise money to help purchase the pushchair.

"Ideas were brought forward and we are happy to say we will be holding a village fete at Llansantffraid Football Club on Sunday, August 4 from 2pm to 4pm.

"This will include stalls, games, refreshments, raffles and a car boot sale.

"We are very proud of Nia coming up with the idea and designing posters in the hope that many people will attend the event.

"Fingers crossed the rain keeps away."

Local businesses and the community have been very supportive and donated many prizes. Nia’s friends and parents will be helping on the day to run stalls, they have donated prizes and will be baking cakes to help raise as much money as possible.
