CHARITIES and groups in Oswestry have received a share of £1,500 thanks to a donation from a popular Indian restaurant.
Simla Tandoori in Beatrice Street, held an anniversary event in June to celebrate 43-years of doing business in the town.
The proceeds from the event – which saw entertainment from an Elvis impersonator – were donated to a number of local groups and charities at a cheque presentation earlier in July.
George Miah, who owns the restaurant, was delighted with the turnout and money raised.
He said: "It was an absolutely brilliant event – very popular."
Those who benefitted from the donations were Oswestry and Borders Foodbank, Designs in Mind, Chalk, Corner Patch, Oswestry and District Stroke Club and Os Nosh.
