A COUPLE from Llansantffraid are appealing for help to give their beloved pet life-saving treatment.

Jazz, a 10-year-old bichon frise, was diagnosed with a prostate tumour earlier in July.

Owners Andrew and Jacqueline Champion-Reeves were told by vets that Jazz, known as Jazzle Bear, could have between a month and 12 months left to live.

However, they were thrown a lifeline when veterinary experts Fitzpatrick Referrals, known from television show The Supervet, told them they could prolong his life by three years with their specialist treatment.

The treatment will cost around £8,000, and although the couple have insurance for their lovable pet, the cost exceeds what their insurance will cover.

Dog-sitter Julie Evans has urged people to help in any way they can.

She said: "I've had dogs all my life.

"He is one of the most intelligent I have ever met – he's so clever.

"He's smart to the point at which I sometimes feel as though he is almost human.

"He's definitely got a built-in clock which notifies him when it's meal time – you can set your watch by it every day.

"A bonus for me is that he loves my cat."

The dog's owners added: "He is intelligent, huggable, lovable in all ways, but unfortunately he is not very well.

"If you can help in anyway, it could help to save his life and allow many more years to enjoy Jazzle-Bear hugs."
