PUPILS at Ellesmere Primary School have taken part in a Race for Life to raise more than £2,000 for the UK’s leading cancer charities.

The youngsters and staff at the school raised a grand total of £2,365 at the event which took place on Friday, July 12.

Runners and walkers took part in the event in aid of Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Nurses.

Gemma Vaughan, sports lead, was delighted with the efforts of everyone involved and thanked parents for their support.

She said: “We are extremely proud of all our children taking part in the race and we are grateful for all the support we have had from parents.

“It was great to see so many family members joining in with the children.

“We hope next year will also be a great success.”

It was the fourth Race for Life that the school has taken part in and the charities chosen were to show support to a mum of two pupils at the school, who has recently been given a terminal cancer diagnosis.
