A WREXHAM County Borough Councillor for Ceiriog Valley is full of praise for a new spa and sauna at a hotel in the region.

The facilities at the Hand Hotel in Llanarmon Dyffryn-Ceiriog were formally opened last month and have since been attracting visitors from far and wide.

Councillor Trevor Bates believes the hotel is another step in the right direction to make the area more appealing for tourists.

“It is very important for the area to have a place like this,” he said.

“I’ve been there myself and it is in such a lovely setting – especially in the sun.

“The facilities are lovely there and really top of the range. It’s great for Llanarmon and the surrounding areas; we’re always looking to improve the region.

“It’s one of the few hotels in Wales to be listed in the Michelin guide, so that’s another attraction.”

Cllr Bates hopes the Ceiriog Valley region can capitalise on the natural beauty it has to offer and couple it with even more attractive places for people to visit.

He added: “I met a couple here the other week from Huddersfield and they spoke to me about their visit.

“It goes to show people will travel from far and wide to see the beautiful area.

“It’s important to ensure we continue looking to improve the region in order to welcome more tourists.”
