A NURSERY in Oswestry has received top marks in a nationwide award scheme which assessed it in more than a hundred areas.

Oswestry Prepcare Day Nursery has won a platinum award – the highest level possible – after an assessment ran by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) as part of its Quality Counts national award scheme.

To mark the occasion, on Tuesday, pupils at the nursery planted 132 seeds to represent the 132 areas in which they were assessed in within the categories, Play and Learning, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Leadership and Management and Workforce.

Nursery manager, Denise Kerr was delighted with the results that were received in May which followed 12 months of assessments – including full day inspections – from the NDNA.

She said: "I'm really proud of absolutely everybody who helped achieve the award.

"We consistently work to deliver the very best care and environment for the young children that we look after.

"We will continue to reflect on our practice, to ensure that we offer the best possible provision for the children in our care.

"To be recognised by such a well-respected national accreditation scheme in this way is wonderful and a testament to all the hard work of the team here – [It is] a perfect way to showcase the quality of service we offer."
