A NEW hardware shop providing tools and workwear has been opened by Oswestry's Mayor and Mayoress.

RD Hardware, Tools and Workwear on Beatrice Street was formally opened on Thursday by Mayor Councillor John Price and Mayoress Cllr Joyce Barrow.

The man behind the new venture is Rob Davies, a roofer and man of all trades who is excited to put his own stamp on the town.

He said: "I've been doing roofing for 25 years but I felt like a change, I didn't want to be doing just that anymore, and so I just thought about supplying for the business I'm in."

The shop will be selling tools and workwear for various trades, with the option to order from a catalogue if the item is not in store.

There are also items such as fresh flowers from a local florist and handmade metal sculptures for sale and information leaflets of trade services provided in the area will also be available.

Cllr Price said: "Rob has invested his own cash so I'm extremely proud of the commitment made to the business and to Oswestry. I'm in favour of these small family businesses, it helps create an image of Oswestry – it's brilliant and I'm keen for people to support it."
