Childhood friends from Oswestry will launch their brand new business at the town’s Food and Drink Festival this weekend.

Steve Roberts and Ryan Leonard are the team behind Urban Grillhouse, which gives its own twist on barbecue-style cuisine.

The 33-year-olds, who have been friends since school, hosted a private launch for around 80 close family and local businesses on Sunday evening at Henlle Heights in Gobowen, ahead of the public event on Saturday and Sunday.

Steve said: “It went really well. The food went down really well. We’ve had a lot of support from family and friends ahead of the private launch.

“We would also like to thank Cosmo Lloyd and Keeta Thomas for allowing us to host it at Henlle.”

He continued: We both feel proud of what we have achieved in such a limited time and we really excited ahead of the food festival this weekend.”

Steve explained that Urban Grillhouse was founded earlier this year with Ryan as the developmental chef and a master butcher who helped in the early stages.

He continued: “We’ve always wanted to do something in food and we found now was the right time for it.”

The menus offered by Urban Grillhouse will always be changing, and Steve said the menus for weddings and events they cater at will be specifically designed around the hosts. But standard cuisine will include gourmet burgers, hot dogs, flatbreads, dirty fries and steak.

Steve said: “We’ve already got weddings and private party bookings confirmed, and we will work with each host to create a menu specifically for them and their event.”
