YARN-Bombing is back in Ellesmere for another year.
The Square on Cross Street has been decorated colourfully, with knitted, crocheted and crafted items covering trees and street furniture.
Organised by the Ellesmere Yarn Bombers – who keep their identity secret – this year’s theme is British birds but you will also find all sorts of flowers, bees, butterflies and other insects.
Ellesmere Primary School pupils and Ellesmere Town Beaver Scouts have also helped by making their own knitted designs.
“We love being involved in this project,” said one of the yarn-bombers.
“It’s fun to do, with all sorts of people coming together to make it happen. It creates a real buzz of excitement. It’s also great seeing people’s reactions once the finished display is revealed.”
The crafty display will remain in place throughout the summer, with collection boxes at nearby shops. All money raised will go to Our Space in Ellesmere Library.
