AN ARMY Cadet from Whitchurch is heading to South Africa for a trip of a lifetime after making the top 10 of a nationwide awards scheme.
Sgt Major Chlöe Edwards, 17, visited the House of Lords last week to receive her award as one of the 10 "best of the best" CVQ Westminster Award, for her selfless work in the community.
Chlöe set up a mentoring scheme at Sir John Talbot's School to help pupils with problems to return to their studies and there are now a total of 12 mentors working on the programme.
And Chloe is looking forward to going on her adventure in South Africa next week.
She said: "We will be looking at different cultures and doing some conservation work as well. People who have been there say it's incredible; I can't wait."
