An exclusive event for members of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust takes place near Oswestry on Saturday.

The tour of Sweeney Fen, will see members join reserves officer Gareth Egarr on a guided walk around this little known reserve which is close to Treflach.

A spokesperson for the trust said: "Sweeney Fen is a small reserve, full of interesting and rare plantlife, from orchids to a variety of butterflies.

"The walk offers the chance to meet some of the volunteers working on the reserve as they put in a new sleeper bridge across the stream, plus an introduction to conservation grazing by local farmer, Ian Steele of Treflach Farm.

"Treflach is a small family-run farm which runs sustainably and believes in farming methods which benefit wildlife."

The farm will also be offering drinks and food after the walk including farm-produced sausages (vegan options available).

The walk will meet at the Treflach Farm car park and will set off at 10am.

Dogs are no permitted on the walk and there will be some off-trail walking for those with mobility issues.
