A blooming marvellous garden in Oswestry was opened up for charity on Sunday.

Jan Wilson welcomed guests to her home on Windsor Road for an open garden event in aid of Leukaemia Care which included a plant and cake sale.

It was the final fundraiser for her son Jody who completed his seventh London Marathon in April, this year.

Jody, who began running for the charity after her sister Thea was diagnosed with it, explained: "I've run four London Marathons for Leukaemia Care and will have raised just over £13,000 including this.

"In comparison to what Thea went through running the marathon is nothing."

The event was the first time Jan has opened her garden for Leukaemia Care, but she had previously hosted them through the National Garden Scheme which supports a series of its own charities.

And although it may be almost a year away Jody is already signed up to the 2020 London Marathon.

He continued: "Next year is the 40th anniversary so I definitely want to take part in that and will be running again for Leukaemia Care for the fifth time and it will be five years since Thea was told she was in remission.

"I'll also be hosting another Santa Run at Moreton Hall School in December and details on that will be available soon," he added.
