ARE you one of the biggest fans of The News Saints in Oswestry?

The Saints are back already for the new season with their pre-season training well under way for a third week and this week, they have discovered their fate for the first qualifying round of next season’s edition of the UEFA Champions League, which is getting underway in the coming weeks.

Yesterday (Tuesday) lunchtime, saw the Park Hall side drawn against the winner of the preliminary round in the draw which was held in Nyon in Switzerland.

They will play that match on July 9 at home, before an away leg the following week.

And to celebrate this, The New Saints are calling on businesses in Oswestry to give their backing to the club’s campaign, by painting their shop fronts green and white.

This will be the eighth successive season in which the Saints will take part in Europe’s elite competition, with a number of big name clubs, including the likes of APOEL Nicosia and HNK Rijeka, visiting the town in recent years.

And for Wayne Greenshields, who is fan engagement officer at Park Hall, seeing the shops in the town decked out so well for TNS will bring out the best in Scott Ruscoe’s side.

He said: “Seeing businesses kitted out in the green and white colours will certainly provide a morale boost to Scott’s side, as well as bring the town together in a real show of camaraderie.

“TNS are the only club within a 40-mile radius competing in the UEFA Champions League this season, and with a very strong squad assembled over the last 12 months, there’s a real sense of belief as to just how far the club can go.

“Taking part in the competition is easy.

All as you need to do is dress up your shop front with anything green and white or The New Saints related. This can be as simple as putting up a poster, or going all out with a full size display.”

Winners will be revealed in the July 10 edition of the Advertizer, with some great prizes being awarded to the top three entrants:

First place: Two complimentary season tickets for all 2019/20 JD Welsh Premier League home games
