DESPITE rain showers on the weekend, families flocked to Baschurch for a charity fun day and polo match.

Shropshire Polo Club hosted the free event at its home base at Moor Farm on Saturday, to raise funds for Age UK.

Three teams took part in the event, including the home team and one representing the charity, meanwhile; visitors could also enjoy the barbecue and licensed bar, plus live music and a range of stalls.

A number of fun activities took place including sack races, egg and spoon races, bouncy pony races, as well as traditional fairground games, bicycle polo for the adults and divot stomping.

Terry Warburton, polo club manager, said: “It was a really successful day and for many, a new sport to enjoy.

“More than 100 people turned up and we had a team from Sussex and others from Cheshire, as well as the Age UK team.

“We are delighted to support such a vital charity as Age UK.”
