A KNOCKIN business has been crowned company of the year at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Pave Aways scooped the top prize in front of more than 600 people who attended the 2019 Shropshire Chamber Business Awards in Telford on June 14 – considered to be the 'business Oscars'.

The construction firm which has its headquarters in Knockin and an office in Wrexham, saw off competition from three other high-profile organisations to win the the Company of the Year award.

Managing director Steven Owen, said: "Winning Company of the Year was a defining moment for the business.

"Since the management buy-out in 2011, we have worked tirelessly to grow Pave Aways into the business it is today – one that has a reputation for delivering construction excellence with a commitment to investing in and supporting its team.

"Being named Shropshire’s Company of the Year is an honour, especially as a company that contributes so much to the county through our people, our projects and our supply chain.

"It has only been made possible by the whole Pave Aways team from back office staff to the workers on site.

"It’s been an incredible achievement to win this award and it puts us in a very positive position for the future growth and development of the company."

Meanwhile; Ellesmere-based business Fabdec Limited won an award for the second year running, when they landed the top spot in the category International Trade though Export.

Chris Powell, managing director, said: "We are very pleased to have won the award.

"Last year we won in the Best Manufacturer category so it's good to be recognised for our work in exporting this year."
