Financial matters will come under the microscope at Oswestry Town Council's latest meeting on Monday.

The finance and general purposes committee will meet at the Guild Hall on Monday from 7pm, with the council's accounts going before the committee.

The council's finance officer will deliver reports on its investment income for the period up to April 30, 2019 and will also report on actual income and expenditure for the year up to June 5.

The council will also then receive a statement of annual governance, with councillors expected to approve the statement.

It states: "Oswestry Town Council is responsible for ensuring that its business is conducted in accordance with the law and proper standards, and that public money is safeguarded and properly accounted for, and economically, efficiently and effectively."

The statement also contains nine points which will guide staff and councillors over the forthcoming year.

There is also a motion on the agenda for the councillors to establish a youth council to enable young people of varying ages in Oswestry to have their views and concerns heard.

This group was proposed by deputy mayor Councillor Duncan Keer at May's annual meeting but is expected to be confirmed at Monday's session.
