QUBE Gallery, Oswestry is making a final call for entries to its annual Open Art Competition.

The event is the most popular exhibition in the year, attracting around 100 entries from around the UK, as well as from local artists.

All entries stand a chance of winning a £500 cash prize or the People’s Choice Prize of a month’s gallery hire in 2020.

The final day for entries is Monday, July 1. An exhibition of shortlisted entries will feature at Qube Gallery from August 2 to September 30 and the ‘best in show’ entry, selected by a panel of independent judges will be announced at a prize giving evening at the beginning of the exhibition.

Arts officer, Charlotte Jackson said; “This year we’ve chosen the theme ‘Inclusion’ which we hope will generate some interesting interpretations. We accept entries in any medium, from painting and print to textiles or digital media – it’s a chance for everyone to submit up to three pieces of their own original work.”

Last year’s People’s Prize winner was the local artist, Frank Triggs with his sculptural piece, Anthrocopene.

"I was thrilled and very surprised to win," said Frank. "Art is about communicating with other people, and this is chance to have your work seen by others.

"I really would encourage people to enter the Qube Open and be a part of this friendly exhibition.”
