AN OSWESTRY supermarket is hosting a week full of fundraising events to raise money for a leading dementia charity.

Staff at Iceland in Oswald Road hosted a cake sale on Friday, June 7 as part of a string of events organised by the store to celebrate Volunteers Week.

There were tasty cakes on offer, courtesy of employees, a mystery tombola and a raffle, with all funds raised going to Alzheimer's Research UK – as part of Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation.

Sarah Dean, duty manager and talking shop representative, said: "It's a charity close to my heart as my Nana had Alzheimers.

"It's a great charity to raise money for and we've got lots more on this week.

"We've all made cakes and there's been fantastic donations from around the town including raffle prizes."

Mitch Finney, area manager, added: "The amount of customers and staff that can relate to this charity is really high.

"All 850 stores and more than 50 food warehouses are hoping to collectively raise over a million for this great charity this week.

"Staff are all volunteering and giving their time to do the events too which is really special."
