EMPLOYEES at Tesco in Ellesmere got muddy at Race for Life to raise money for a leading cancer charity.

The seven employees were joined by six friends to run the Pretty Muddy 5k at Alyn Waters Country Park in Wrexham, in aid of Cancer Research.

It took them around 90 minutes to complete the course and over £300 was raised for the charity, which is one of Tesco's charity partnerships.

Sophie Penrose, 28, who is Tesco Community Champion and took part in the race, said: "The run was so funny but really really muddy!"

"I'm really fortunate to say that cancer hasn't affected my close friends or family in ways that it has others.

"My main reason to complete this was for the future generations – including my children's futures – in the hope they will find a cure for this devastating illness."
