A MEDICAL administration apprentice at Gobowen's orthopaedic hospital has won an award for going above and beyond.
Katie Griffiths works in the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries at the hospital and was nominated for the latest Health Hero Award by business co-ordinator, Heather Edwards.
Those who go the extra mile at the hospital can be nominated by their colleagues for the prestigious award.
Katie, whose late mother was a sister on a spinal cord injury ward at the hospital, said: "I feel extremely proud and I know my mum would’ve been proud of me for winning this award, so this truly means a lot.
"I absolutely wasn’t expecting to have been nominated for a Health Hero Award, let alone to actually win it – I can’t believe it.
"I work with a truly amazing group of people, MCSI really is like one big family.
"I would also like to thank Heather for nominating me."
Heather said: "Katie soon settled into the Admin team on MCSI not long after starting her role and works extremely hard to improve her skillset.
"We have also benefitted from learning from Katie as she’s not afraid to suggest ideas and processes to improve the way we work as a team.
"She is an asset to the team and goes above and beyond to help in any way she can."
