ROAD users are being advised to avoid a busy route near Chirk after a crash on Thursday morning.

A two-vehicle road traffic collision (RTC) was reported at around 10am on Thursday.

The collision happened on the A5 near Jewson in Chirk, with the road temporarily closed while the incident is investigated.

North Wales Police PC Thomas Hough posted on Twitter: "Road Closed A5 nr Jewsons due to a two vehicle RTC, please find an alternative route whilst we investigate."

One of the lanes has been reopened, but a second collision has since been reported near the scene.

PC Hough posted on Twitter: "We've opened one lane of the A5 from Fron towards Chirk, however the other direction is still closed whilst we're awaiting recovery. 

"People rubber necking though has just caused another collision at scene.

"Details exchanged - keep your eyes on the road."
