A BEAUTY QUEEN from Llandinam says she is "so honoured" to represent her late grandmother's home of Galway when she competes at a pageant in Northern Ireland this weekend.

As Ms Galway Galaxy, Beverley Roberts will be taking on women from across Ireland and Northern Ireland to win the title of Ms Galaxy Ireland 2019 in Belfast on Sunday, May 26.

The winner of the national title will head to the USA in August to bid for the international title of Ms Galaxy 2019.

Beverley was only a toddler when her grandmother Mary Shanley passed away aged 52 after a battle with secondary breast cancer.

"I am so honoured to representing where my grandmother was from as I never got to know her for long as I was only three when she passed away," she said.

"I know she will be very proud up there."

Beverley will be raising funds for a breast cancer charity in memory of her grandmother

She has also raised £80 for her chosen pageant charity, the National Autism Society, and taken part in two 7K running events in which the team raised more than £70,000.
