A TREE has been replanted in memory of a famous 20th century novelist from Oswestry.
Barbara Pym was born in Oswestry in 1913, and went on to publish a series of well-received novels.
An illustrious career in writing saw her elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
The tree was placed in Cae Glas Park, but had to be replanted recently after it had died.
The new Mayor of Oswestry, Councillor John Price, said it is important for the town to keep the memory of Pym alive in the town.
Cllr Price said: “After the original tree died, the decision was made to plant a new one in the same location.
“The tree has now successfully been replaced and is protected by the original tree guard which has the plaque on it.
“It is nice to keep the memory of Barbara Pym in the town.”
