A RESIDENT at a residential home in Oswestry has reached 100 years of age.

Edythe Roberts celebrated turning 100 earlier this month at Brook House residential home with cake and a card from the Queen.

Born in Llangedwyn, Edythe moved to the area two years ago to be closer to family.

She worked at a creamery in Rhyl during the Second World War where she eventually became head cheesemaker.

Edythe is the eldest of three sisters.

Her niece, Carol Roberts of Llanymynech, said she is a wonderful person.

“My auntie is such a kind, lovely person,” she said.

“She has spent her life travelling a lot and is very interested in people.

“She loves people and has always been very religious.”

Meanwhile, the residential home was rated as good in its recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.
